Liberation - Maria Waterschoot

Maria Waterschoot died recently. Her brother Piet said, “Maria didn’t witness the parachute landings because it isn’t possible from our house. The parachute drops were spectacular and were shown in all the newsreels, newspapers and magazines.”

“My father managed to get hold of three parachutes, orange and white in colour. As long as the Germans were in the area orange was a dangerous colour to have. The parachutes were buried for a time. Later we used them to make all sorts of clothing.” - Wies Lamers
